Sylvan Lake is widely known throughout Alberta.  It has become a destination for water enthusiasts and recreation property owners for many years.

We asked our Broker Patrick Galesloot about Sylvan Lake.  “What memories do I have of Sylvan Lake?  Well, we moved to Red Deer in 1977.  So we have seen a lot of change and growth.  Sylvan Lake has grown since then.  What is now highway 11 A, was the main road there.  As a kid, it seemed to be a long way away.  Now driving from Red Deer 25 minutes is nothing.  I think it’s even shorter now that hwy 11 is 110 km/hr.

I recall us going to Sylvan Lake in the summer with my buddy’s mom, or my mom and having lunch and just hanging out and playing in the water ALL day until the sun went down.  It was such an easy lake to enjoy with shallow entry and walking out for what seemed forever as kin before the water was too deep to touch bottom.  That’s what Sylvan Lake stand out to me as a fun family destination.  It’s not too big, they have some cool shops and restaurants, and a picturesque escape for the family.  Who wouldn’t want to spend a day at the beach or an evening?”

With close to 15,000 residents calling Sylvan Lake home, it is more than a summer getaway.  It is a thriving town with an abundance of services.  It may be most known across the province for its lake and beautiful beaches, but this community of is a great place to call home year-round.

Doing business in Sylvan Lake, business owners have the benefit of excellent access, affordable real estate and a tremendous seasonal population.  Sylvan Lake attracts well over 1.5 million tourists each year.

Sylvan Lake has everything a homeowner would want in a community.  Modern sports facilities with an ice hockey arena, curling, movie theatre, golf, a farmer’s market, summer and winter festivals at the lake.  There is no shortage of things to do.
